GENERAL QUESTIONS

Yes, Lutikey is compatible with any iPhone with iOs and Android.

The LutiKey app is supported in the following languages:

Yes, the LutiKey battery is replaceable.

One Lutikey app can manage unlimited Lutikey devices at the same time.

Your information will be kept completely safe and anonymous and will always be protected. LutiKey does not share your information with anyone at any time. The only time someone can see your information is if you share your LutiKey with that person.

Yes. First, remove the Lutikey from your App while it is connected. Once the Lutikey App notices that it is no longer connected with your previous device, it may be transferred.

Lutikey works through Bluetooth connection. The location is reported to the phone through this connection. Once the connection is determined both the phone and the device will give a lost alert signal. Bluetooth has a high frequency band, which effectiveness for communication maybe limited by the environment. Multiple walls, solid objects, and other interferences may decrease the effectiveness of the Bluetooth signal. We have maximized the Lutikey range for personal item tracking within normal distance.

Bluetooth: Bluetooth must be enabled at all times so Lutikey can work properly. The device must enable Bluetooth connection in general, and the connection must be enabled for the Lutikey app.

LutiKey App enabled in the background: The App should not be terminated. When not using the app directly, the app should be moved into the background, but not ended or terminated. For iOS devices, background refresh must be enabled. Setting>Lutikey> background running enabled. The background setting can be changed during app installation.

Android devices vary from platform to platform. Please see instructions for your own device and look for the setting related to background program running. To make sure the setting enables Lutikey, search Lutikey App > application running environment testing

Installation permission grants: The permission to successfully run the Lutikey app will be requested at the installation page. The Lutikey app needs all of the requested permissions granted in order to run, failure to grant one of the requested permissions will lead to unsuccessful operation. 

Enable access to the current location: This setting is necessary for the tracking and location recording functions. When enabled, Lutikey will locate the item through the in App GPS map.

Once you have reported that your Lutikey is lost, the information will be distributed to the Lutikey cloud service. This information will then be passed safely to all connected devices that have joined the community. When another device in the community has detected the signal of the lost Lutikey, this information will be reported back to the cloud service and in turn to you.

Lutikey welcomes everyone whether they own a LutiKey device or not. The Lutikey App is free to download and by doing so, you’ll be joining a growing community that will always help find your lost items. All you need to do is download the app and create an account and you’ll also be able to help others find their lost items too.

Absolutely not! Even though we recommend everyone to take full advantage of all the functionalities that are offered on our Plus and Premium subscriptions, when you connect your LutiKey with your phone, you’ll have full access to all functions that the LutiKey App has to offer on its basic plan, including our growing community!

Getting Started with LutiKey

LutiKey is designed to help you find those items that are most valuable to you. When you activate LutiKey and attach it to any item or give to a person, the LutiKey App finds it and establishes a connection with it by using a Bluetooth signal from your device. Once that connection is established, LutiKey will then use the location service of the mobile device to communicate and keep updated the location information to the App.

Your LutiKey can be found by your smartphone when it’s within range of the Bluetooth. In order to get the best connection and best location update you will need to keep in mind the following:  

  • Bluetooth must always be enabled
  • The LutiKey app must always be open and running (foreground or background) 
  • Location services should be set to “Always“
  • “Allow While Using App” should be selected on the location permission popup for iOS users

 

NOTE: If any of these 3 things are not true, your LutiKey, app, and device are not communicating with each other

  1. Download the LutiKey App on your smartphone.
  2. Open the app and tap “Sign Up” 
  3. Complete the information on the “Create your Account” form
  4. Press the “Sign Up” button to complete account registration
  5. Follow the prompts to allow LutiKey access to Bluetooth and “Location Services”. This is very important because this access will allow your LutiKey to connect with your smartphone.

You’re all set! You are now ready to pair your phone with your first LutiKey!

Before you add a LutiKey, make sure you have the latest version of the LutiKey App on your phone.

  1. Open the LutiKey app on your smartphone
  2. Tap the + on the bottom right corner of your screen
  3. The screen will ask you to press the button on your LutiKey to turn it on and to place it near your Smartphone to establish the connection.
  4. Press the button on your LutiKey device and listen for the tune
  5. The App will ask you to select the category that best fits how you’ll be using your LutiKey.
  6. Last but not least, you’ll need to assign a name to identify your LutiKey (an image can also be assigned)

 

That’s all! Now your LutiKey is connected to your device!

If you’d like to transfer a LutiKey that is related to your account, follow the next steps:

  1. Open the LutiKey App and go to “My Devices”
  2. Click on the device you’d like to transfer to open the detailed screen of the device
  3. Press the 3 dots icon (…) located on the top right side of the screen to access the settings of the LutiKey
  4. Go to the bottom of the screen and press the “Delete Device” option
  5. Once it’s erased from your account, it will be ready to be added to the account of the person whom you wish to transfer it to.

The LutiKey battery is guaranteed to last for at least 1 year after activation. After that time, the battery can be replaced. Not to worry, your LutiKey will always have a working battery because we will send our subscription members one battery every year at no additional cost. In the case that you have not signed up to one of our subscriptions, the LutiKey app will notify you ahead of time when the battery is due to be changed.  

What happens if my battery dies before 1 year?

If your battery dies before one year from when it was activated, we will send a replacement battery free of charge, it is covered by our warranty.

Our community is secure and completely anonymous. Other LutiKey users will not be able to see your LutiKey or any information related to the account. The only way that another person can see your LutiKey information is if you have shared it with another person through your LutiKey App.

LutiKey Features

When you ring your LutiKey, it will help find the object that has attached to the LutiKey device.

To make it ring, please use the following steps:  

  1. Open your LutiKey App
  2. On your list of LutiKey devices, touch the bell located on the bottom right hand side of the chosen device
  3. Your LutiKey will start to emit a sound and a blue intermittent light will help you find what you’re looking for.

 

You can also do the same process by touching on the LutiKey that you want to sound off from your list of devices and by pressing the bell that is under the last registered location.      

It often happens that we cannot remember where we left our phone, but luckily, you’ll only have to press the button on your LutiKey device and your phone will start to play a music that will guide you to it (it will emit the sound even if your phone is on silent mode)

LutiKey is equipped with a function that will help in case there’s something left behind or forgotten. After connection is lost between your cell phone and your LutiKey device, an alert will be sent to your phone letting you know you forgot something important.

This function comes deactivated by default because not everyone wants it active for all the LutiKey devices.

To activate it, please follow these steps:

  1. Open LutiKey App
  2. Select from the device list the one you would like to activate the Separation Alert
  3. Press the 3 dots icon (…) located on the top right side of the screen
  4. Turn the Separation Alert to ON and the function will be activated for this LutiKey

LutiKey App will always show the last registered location from each of your LutiKey devices associated to your account. There are 2 options to see the last location:

Option 1:

  1. Open the LutiKey App
  2. Select from the list which LutiKey you would like to see the location
  3. On the screen, under the icon or image of the device, you will be able to see the last registered location and by pressing the button “Show on Map”, you’ll be able to see it on the map, it will also let you see how to get to that location.

 

Option 2:

  1. Open the LutiKey App
  2. Select the “Map” option located at the bottom of the screen
  3. You will be able to see all of the LutiKey devices related to your account (yours or the shared ones) and will also be able to see the last registered location for each one.

Often times, when we lose something or cannot find someone, knowing the tracking record can help us locate it. LutiKey saves the locations of each LutiKey from the last 30 days. To access the location history, please follow these steps: 

  1. Open the LutiKey App
  2. Select from the list which Lutikey location history you’d like to see
  3. Press the “History Tracking” button and it will redirect you to the last registered locations

Many times sharing your LutiKey with other people will help you find what you’ve lost but also by sharing it, you will be able to help in case they need assistance.

Follow these steps to share your LutiKey

  1. Open your LutiKey App
  2. Select the LutiKey you’d like to share
  3. Press the 3 dots icon (…) located on the top right side of the screen
  4. Press the option “Share”
  5. Choose the option “Invite Someone” to share your LutiKey
  6. Complete the email address of the person you’d like to share your LutiKey with.

If the person you’ve shared your LutiKey with is already a LutiKey user, it will automatically show up on your shared devices list of your LutiKey App. If the person does not have the LutiKey App installed on their phone, they will receive an email saying you’ve shared your LutiKey, along with the instructions on how to install the LutiKey App.

Note: Basic subscription lets you share your Lutikey with one person, if you’d like to share it with more than one person, the Plus or Premium subscription will need to be purchased.

Many times, we want to inform someone that we are ok and where we are located at that moment, but sometimes we are in a hurry or simply we don’t want to call to let them know. LutiKey makes things easier. Double click the button on your LutiKey device and the people that you’ve shared your device with will receive a notice on their LutiKey App letting them know that you are ok and also the location of where you are at that moment (a green light will turn on for a few seconds on your device, this means the notifications were sent successfully)

Note: This function is available only for Plus or Premium subscription members

LutiKey will notify the people you’ve shared your LutiKey with when you arrive to any of the places you pre-defined. To define your places, you will need to do the following steps:

  1. Open your LutiKey App
  2. Touch the “Settings” icon located top right side of the screen
  3. Press “Edit My Placers” option
  4. Press “Add Places” option
  5. It will ask to assign a name for the chosen place and you can choose to send notifications upon arrival, just by touching the switch located below the name (this option can be turned on or off anytime)
  6. Press Next
  7. Select what type of place you want to create
  8. A map will show the actual location. If you want to save the “Place” where you are located, just press the button “Save” and a new “Place” will be created. If you need to create a “Place” under another location, the address will need to be added to the bar above the map and click Confirm.

Note: This function is available only for Plus or Premium subscription members

Press and hold for 4 seconds the button on your LutiKey device, it will initiate a call to Emergency Services (LutiKey will call the emergency number of the country where its located at the time) At the same time LutiKey will notify the people you’ve shared the device with, letting them know that you are in trouble and where you’re located at that moment (a green light on your LutiKey will turn on for a few seconds, this means the notifications were sent successfully). Within the notice your contacts receive, there’s an option to notify you that help is on the way, the button’s green light will turn and stay on until you press the LutiKey button again

Note: This function is available only for Plus or Premium subscription members

To know the last location of our LutiKey is an excellent way to find what is lost or misplaced and if someone else finds it, how can they reach out to return it? Each LutiKey device comes with a sticker that can placed on the back of the device, if  someone finds it they can access a webpage where they will have the option to call or send you a message to recover it (the moment the sticker is read, LutiKey will notify you when and where it was accessed)

To activate this function, please follow the next steps:

  1. Open LutiKey App
  2. Press the option “More” found on the bottom right side
  3. Under “Who’s the Owner”, press “Configure”
  4. Complete the phone number and country of residence
  5. Select the LutiKey you wish to configure from the list that is shown on the screen
  6. Complete the “ID” and “Pin” located on the Sticker that came with your LutiKey
  7. “Save” to finish configuration

Remember to place the Sticker on the back of your LutiKey so if a person finds it, they can get in touch with you.

Note: This function is available only for Premium subscription members

LutiKey will let you create groups of LutiKey users, it can be a group of friends, family groups or a group of people travelling together to make sure everyone keeps in touch with one another 

To create a group, follow these steps:

  1. Open the LutiKey App
  2. On the devices list, choose the “Groups” option
  3. Press the “Create Group” button
  4. It will ask to assign a name to the group that you are creating
  5. Press the “Next” button
  6. If you have more than one LutiKey in your account, it will ask to select which one you’d like to include in the group (if you only have one, this step is not necessary)
  7. Touch the option “Send Invite” to invite other people to join the group (there’s no limit as to how many people you can invite)

 

When you create a group, it will automatically make you the administrator and have the control to add or delete any members of the group.

When you invite someone to join your group, that person will need to accept your invitation before becoming part of the group. If you are inviting a person that have not installed LutiKey App, they will receive an email inviting them to join the group along with the instructions on how to install the LutiKey App

It can make a difference if during an emergency, the person providing medical help has the necessary information. All of our LutiKey devices come with a sticker that can placed on the back of the device, this will provide access to your medical information in case of an emergency.

To configure your medical information, follow the next steps:

  1. Open the LutiKey App
  2. Press the option “More” located on the bottom right side
  3. Under “Medical ID”, press on “Configure”
  4. Our medical id platform will appear, complete all the medical information that you want to share in case medical emergency assistance is required.

Note: This function is available only for Premium subscription members

If you happen to lose something with a LutiKey attached to it, you will need to mark it as lost in order for our community to be aware. If found, you will be notified as soon as any community member locates it. Any LutiKey that is linked to your account as well as any that has been shared, can be marked as lost. In order to do that, you must follow these steps:

  1. Open the LutiKey App
  2. Select from the list of devices which one you’d like to mark as lost
  3. On the detailed screen of the lost LutiKey device, press the button “Mark as Lost”

 

The option “Mark as Lost” will only be visible if your LutiKey is not within range and connected to your phone.

Troubleshooting - ACTIVATION

If you’re trying to link a LutiKey device to your account and receive a message saying it was previously activated, it’s because it was linked to someone else’s account. We recommend you contact that person that transferred that LutiKey to you, so they can delete it from their account and it’s free to link it to your account.

If you are trying to link your LutiKey to your account and the button does not work, it is because it was previously linked to another account and it has not been deleted correctly. We recommend you contact that person that transferred that LutiKey to you, so they can delete it from their account and it’s free to link it to your account. 

Troubleshooting - COMMON ISSUES

Enable or Disable Location Services for an iOS Device.

Location services must be turned on for the LutiKey App in order for your LutiKey to report an accurate up-to-date location of when it was last connected to your iPhone.

Below are the steps for turning your iOS device’s “Location Services” on and off:

  1. Tap on “Settings” (for your phone)
  2. Next, tap on “Privacy”
  3. Tap where it says “Location Services” , and make sure the color then tap color changed from grey to green (or blue)
  4. You will see a list of apps which are allowed to use “Location Services” on your phone, please make sure the LutiKey App is marked allowed
  5. Exit your settings.
  6. Now your LutiKey is ready to update the locations accurately.

 

Enable or Disable Location Services for an Android Device.

Your LutiKey App “Location Services” must be turned on in order for your LutiKey to report an accurate up-to-date location of when it was last connected to your Android phone or tablet.

Below are the steps for turning your Android device’s “Location Services” on and off:

 
(Note: Each Android device may vary – for example; Samsung vs Nexus – please see your phone’s manual for more information)

  1. Go to your Settings menu.
  2. Tap where it says “Location Services” or “Location Access” – depending on your phone model
  3. From this screen, you can turn on or off any of the location services. (Please make sure if you are able to set the “Mode” or “Location Services” to be “High Accuracy”)
  4. Your phone or tablet should now be updating your LutiKey most up-to-date last known locations.

Your LutiKey location is updated using the Bluetooth between your LutiKey and your device. 

If it ever happens that your app is not displaying the right location of your LutiKey on the map, follow these steps to resolve this issue:

Updates: Please update your device’s software, and the app to the most current versions.

Location Services: Location Services must be on for both your phone and the app. To confirm that your location services are enabled:

For iOS devices: Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services (On) > Scroll down to “LutiKey and check that “Allow Location Access” is set to “Always“. This will ensure LutiKey locations are updating when the app is running in the background.

For Android devices: Each phone model’s settings may differ, but the essential functionality may be accessed in Settings > search for or tap on “Location”> ensure the setting is “On” and that LutiKey is granted permission.

Battery Savings Options: These settings can slow location updates or stop locations from updating in an effort to save phone battery. To ensure that your phone is showing the most up-to-date and current locations, please check your specific phone’s documentation and adjust these settings so that the LutiKey App is continually updating the location of your LutiKey device.

This can happen because your LutiKey and your phone are not within range and therefore, not connected to each other.

If your LutiKey is next to your phone, we recommend verifying that your phone’s Bluetooth is turned on. LutiKey cannot connect to your phone if Bluetooth is off.

Disable or Enable Bluetooth for an iOS device.

In order to activate your Lutikey and to connect them to your iOS device, Bluetooth must be turned on. 

Below are the steps for turning your iOS device’s Bluetooth on and off.

  1. Tap on Settings
  2. Select “General”
  3. Tap on “Bluetooth”
  4. Click the On/Off button
  5. Exit out of Settings

 

Disable or Enable Bluetooth for an Android device.

In order to activate your LutiKey, and to connect them to your Android device, Bluetooth must be turned on. 

(Note: Each Android device may vary — like Samsung vs Nexus — and so such if you’re unable to find your Bluetooth settings, please see your phone’s manual or support site.)

General Android Bluetooth settings:

  1. Tap on Settings
  2. Look for “Bluetooth” or the Bluetooth symbol and tap it.
  3. There should be an option to enable or disable it. Please swipe it so that is in the “on” position.
  4. Exit out of Settings

This can happen because your LutiKey and your phone are not within Bluetooth range

If your LutiKey is next to your phone, we recommend verifying that your phone’s Bluetooth is turned on. LutiKey cannot connect to your phone if Bluetooth is off.

Disable or Enable Bluetooth for an iOS device.

In order to activate your Lutikey and to connect them to your iOS device, Bluetooth must be turned on. 

Listed below are the steps for turning your iOS device’s Bluetooth on and off.

The Bluetooth settings path is the same across all iOS devices:

  1. Tap on Settings
  2. Select “General”
  3. Tap on “Bluetooth”
  4. Flip the On/Off button to toggle Bluetooth on or off
  5. Close out of Settings and you’re on your way!

 

Disable or Enable Bluetooth for an Android device.

In order to activate your LutiKey, and to connect them to your Android device, Bluetooth must be turned on. 

(Note: Each Android device may vary — like Samsung vs Nexus — and so such if you’re unable to find your Bluetooth settings, please see your phone’s manual or support site.)

General Android Bluetooth settings:

  1. Tap on Settings on your Android device.
  2. Look for “Bluetooth” or the Bluetooth symbol in your settings and tap it.
  3. There should be an option to enable or disable it. Please tap or swipe on it so that is in the “on” position.
  4. Close out of Settings and you’re on your way!
